Baptism

Before Jesus returned to heaven, he gave us two specific practices that symbolize our relationship with him—Baptism and Communion.
Baptism: We practice baptism by immersing a Christ- follower in water. Doing this is an act of obedience, making a public statement that the old way of living has died, and a new life in Christ has begun. Baptism is required for membership at The Ridge.
Baptism is a very important step to be taken once in each believer's life. We baptize people regularly upon request, but ask that you meet with a pastor before- hand to discuss your relationship with God and the significance of this practice.
Baptism is available for children who are old enough to explain what their faith means, and who have shown that they are Christ-followers. Children also must meet with a pastor before being baptized.
Because of these beliefs, we do not baptize infants. Instead we offer a child dedication, where we pray for the child and their parents during a worship service, dedicating the child to God and ourselves to helping raise him or her in a godly way. We traditionally do a child dedication on Mothers Day.
Communion: We believe communion is a symbolic act of obedience where believers remember the death of Jesus Christ and anticipate his second coming. We hold communion services on the first Sunday of every month and on other occasions.
Our communion services are open to everyone who has a personal relationship with Christ. This includes children under their parentsʼ supervision.
